Board Parties

Board parties are a great way to celebrate a special board milestone or just have some fun!

Game And Party Examples!

Often a board party lures back people who have drifted from the board or bring in new people! You can have a board party for any reason, not just milestones!

Consider a board party for:
  1. First day of summer
  2. Back to school
  3. Holiday party
  4.  Un-holiday party
  5.  Virtual baby or wedding shower for a member or all of your members in the case of a wedding or pregnancy boards
  6.  Birthday party
  7. Bon Voyage party

You have decided to have a party. Now what?

First invite your members! Don't skimp on the invitations. How?
  1.  Invite them on the board.
  2. Set up an iVillage Member Website with an invitation http://www.ivillage.com/ivillage/memberwebsites/
  3. Send invitations on iVillage Postcards http://www.ivillage.com/postcards/

Then on the special day set up the party!

  1. A roll call is the perfect way to start a party! You might want to call it a guest register and ask for greetings/wishes for the honored guest(s) or just a Who is here and what are you wearing to the party!
  2. Food is a key party ingredient even online! Set up a thread errr I mean table for food. Invite members to make their own contributions. Some board parties have a new thread for each meal.
  3. With food...comes drink...Is that an open bar over there? A pool boy bringing refreshment? What is their pleasure? Be sensitive to your board's nature and don't throw a drunken bash and always, always offer non alcoholic drinks.
  4. Games! Party games are always a hit and should come in abundance. Check out the games page for ideas! Games

The most important thing is to have fun. Encourage members with your enthusiasm. Then, when you are done, come share what worked and didn't work for your board on Board Q and A!
