Profiles

An iVillage profile is an important way to build trust with the members of your message board. All cls should have an iVillage Member Profile. This info applies to the old style profiles...not the new profiles. Coming soon: New Profile Info (though they are pretty straightforward!)

Have you looked at your iVillage profile lately? I want you to do so. Click on your name under any of your posts. Take a long hard look at it. Do you have one? Is it up-to-date? Does it have a link you can just click to get to your board? Is your profile linked to your name in the board description on your board? All cls should have a profile and it should be linked to your name in the board description.

Steps to take if the answer to any of those questions is no:

1. Click on update your profile here from your profile page. You can also click on that from any member profile. Or you can scroll to the bottom of just about any iVillage page and click on Member Profiles under community to get to the form to update your profile.

2.To make a clickable link to your board in the box titled Community Leader For put:

name of board here or if you want the board to open in a new window: name of board here You delete the words URL here and replace with the cgi-bin URL for your board. The easiest way to get that URL is to go to your channels main board listing page, right click and copy the shortcut and paste it in there. Your cgi-bin URL will look something like this: http://boards1.ivillage.com/cgi-bin/boards/ivboardqa.

3.If your profile is not linked to your name in the board suggestion box, send your cmod an email letting her know. Also, be sure to tell her if your board also has an iVillage member website that can be included in the board description.

4.If you want to really fancy up your profile, give the Raise Your Profile board a spin.
